Moodle 2: Learning platform refresh and support 2012/13

This post provides an overview of the new and improved functionality in Moodle for 2012/13 and the Moodle 2 skills development opportunities for academic and administrative staff.

Moodle skills development

During the remainder of July:

The Moodle Support team are updating and extending  a comprehensive collection of Moodle 2 support materials.  These will be made available in Moodle as part of skills development courses and also as standalone ‘mini-guides’.  This will allow for a fast-track learning path for those who require information and support quickly, while also providing access to structured and in-depth material as necessary.

A flipped learning model will be employed whereby information relating to changes and additions to Moodle will be distributed along with links to online supportive materials.  Tutors can thereafter elect to work independently with online materials and/or attend one of many Moodle 2  sessions.

During August and September:

IT Services and Educational Development  will provide an accessible and persistent instance of Moodle specifically for training, experimentation and testing.  This will allow tutors to develop skills and ideas, without risk to live courses and users.

The Moodle Support team has scheduled several face-to-face support sessions throughout August and September.  These have been targeted to reflect the diversity of the RHUL Moodle community: for Basic users, Advanced Users, E-Assessors, and Departmental Administrators.  Please visit the E-Learning Training & Development Webpage to book onto, or request, these sessions.
